This Week in History – in Books

For this week’s installment, I have to confess about a hole in the library’s collection. Apparently there are no books in the library that reference going over Niagra Falls in a barrel. My apologies to Annie Taylor, and I’ll have to see if I can rectify this oversight. Also, no books on submarines. I’ll have to look into that one as well.

As for the Cuban Missile Crisis, I can provide a book. Those who have written their birth year paper are familiar with the decades books. There is one for The 1960s, which has lots of information about Kennedy and the Missile Crisis.

Ryan threw me off a little. I had heard he was going to talk about Pablo Picasso, so I grabbed the book Art Attack. Lots of very interesting, very cool artists in here. I love a good Wyeth painting as much as the next person, but that’s not what you’re going to find in this book. This is about people and movements and places that challenged the idea of art and what it was supposed to look like and who was supposed to enjoy it.
